Chefas Projects is excited to present Simple Crumb, the second solo exhibition by Portland-based artist Lindsey Cuenca Walker.

With six new works on canvas, Walker portrays the quiet details in her life that bring her uncomplicated joy, from bowls of fruit to bright flowers to a neatly laid breakfast spread. Taken individually, these quotidian things may not seem like much. Yet when put together, they constellate a wider perspective on the pleasantries of life. Walker’s paintings, rendered with bright yet soft colors that suspend her subjects out of a tangible reality, reflect a call to see what is before us and to appreciate it for what it contributes to the layered complexities of our lives.

"Simple Crumb is precisely that—a morsel of something greater,” says Walker. “When arranged linearly, these crumbs can chart a path to the unknown. The simple crumb is not small or insignificant; it represents both the first step and the destination in a greater journey. This body of work embraces the myriad ways I love to create. There is no strict theme or narrative; the common thread is my earnest desire to paint what brings me joy without overthinking it. It is a simple but mighty crumb along a path leading to something special."

Lindsey Cuenca Walker (b. 1988) is a Filipina American artist from Southern California, now residing in Portland, Oregon, where she earned her BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2017. Her work has been featured in notable platforms like Juxtapoz and exhibited in galleries across Portland, San Francisco, and New York.

The opening reception for Simple Crumb will take place at Chefas Projects on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 5-8 pm. Located in Portland, Oregon, at 134 SE Taylor Street on the first floor of the Taylor Works building, Chefas Projects invites the public to explore this unique exhibition, which will be on view through October 26, 2024.
