Stephanie Chefas Projects is delighted to welcome Yellena James for her fourth solo exhibition at the gallery entitled "Antidote." Between her masterful brush strokes and brilliant use of color, James invokes a completely vivid and unmistakable world. To enter this terrain is to immerse yourself in a thriving landscape of pure majesty and seemingly endless dimension. It's all rendered with such epic precision that the viewer can practically feel the life-forms moving across the canvas, an entire abyss at their disposal. Imparting relaxation and awe to equal effect, each painting generates boundless discovery and the perfect visual escape.

With her latest work, James develops new interactions within self-sufficient environments to create a flourishing utopian space and one where everything exists in perfect harmony and balance. She's been using Prussian Blue ink for years and recently discovered that this particular color is used as an antidote for certain kinds of toxic metal poisoning. Apparently, the Prussian Blue particles sequester the negative toxic metal particles and thereby speed up their expulsion from one's system. She purposefully incorporated this color into every piece so as to turn the work itself into a similar kind of antidote.

Antidote will be on view at Stephanie Chefas Projects from September 12 - October 10, 2020. Stephanie Chefas Projects is located in Portland, Oregon at 305 SE 3rd Avenue on the second floor of the Urban Row building.
