Chefas Projects proudly marks its 10th anniversary with TEN, a landmark group exhibition featuring 22 artists who have defined and shaped the gallery’s curatorial voice over the past decade. Opening Friday, November 7th, this milestone exhibit encapsulates the evolution, community, and bold spirit at the heart of the gallery’s practice.
Founded by Stephanie Chefas, the gallery opened its doors in the Fall of 2015 in a modest 500-square-foot space in Southeast Portland. From the outset, Chefas Projects has stood out for its commitment to showcasing a global mix of contemporary artists, curating monthly exhibitions that champion emerging talent while pushing the boundaries of established voices.
In December 2022, the gallery expanded into a 1,500-square-foot location in the heart of Portland’s Industrial Southeast, now featuring two exhibition rooms. This move marked a new chapter for the gallery, reinforcing its mission to present work outside the confines of the traditional fine art system, while deepening its role as a creative hub for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
TEN reflects everything Chefas Projects stands for—boldness, vision, and authenticity. The exhibition includes a dynamic mix of artists whose work has defined the gallery’s identity, offering a diverse showcase of color, form, and conceptual power.
“Chefas Projects is more than a gallery, it’s a reflection of passion, dedication, and a deep belief in the transformative power of art,” says founder Stephanie Chefas. “Our mission is simple: no pretensions, just powerful, brilliant work that demands attention.”
Featured Artists Include:
Jess Ackerman, Bobby Adams, Ryan Bubnis, Laura Burke, Jordan Clark, Lisa Congdon, Godeleine de Rosamel, Kristen Diedrich, Nate Ethington, Shawn Huckins, Yellena James, Emily Kepulis, Dan Lam, Kyle Lee, Nathan McKee, Mako Miyamoto, John Vitale, Betsy Walton, Nicole Williford, Emily Wise, Jessie Weitzel Le Grand, and Paige Wright.
TEN isn’t just an anniversary, it’s a declaration of where daring, contemporary curation can go next. With a loyal collector base and a sharp eye for rising talent, Chefas Projects continues to break ground on what a gallery can be in the 21st century.
