Chefas Projects is delighted to welcome Portland based artist Nate Ethington with 18 Chapters Under the Magnolia in Gallery 2. The exhibit features a series of 18 abstract paintings that mark the passing of time experienced by generations under a single Magnolia tree. Ethington is a self-taught artist who uses thin layers of paint to build upon his compositions. His work touches upon themes of loss, hope, language, relationships, and conversations.
“18 Chapters Under the Magnolia is a series of paintings that marks the passing of time as generations of people experience the highs and lows of their lives, under and around an individual magnolia as it completes its life cycle.”
The opening reception for 18 Chapters Under the Magnolia will be held at Chefas Projects on Friday, April 28th from 5-8pm. Masks and social distancing practices are encouraged. Chefas Projects is located in Portland, Oregon at 134 SE Taylor Street on the first floor of the Taylor Works building. The exhibition will be on view through May 27, 2023 and is free and open to the public.
