PRESS
Stephanie Chefas Projects is delighted to present sculptor Jessie Weitzel Le Grand in the Gallery Annex with Droopy Hideaway, the next batch of peculiar creations by the citizens of Ny By. Imagined as a potential afterlife or alternate dimension, Ny By is a place governed by rules unlike our own. Le Grand’s sculptures capture the objects and arrangements its citizens celebrate. Each artifact reveals more about this constructed reality you may never see yourself.
Ny By is a town. Not a town of this world, but another. In Ny By, citizens worship blossoms and sandwiches. They pull threads from the soil and collect geodes on the shore. Life here is a mystery. There is no language, no laws, and no existential crises. Each life form is unique, funny, and content.
Jessie Weitzel Le Grand is an artist from Portland, OR. She has a BFA in sculpture from Pacific Northwest of Art and a Masters in Teaching from Marylhurst University. Jessie currently lives and works in Portland, OR.
The reception for Droopy Hideaway will be held at Stephanie Chefas Projects on Saturday, February 22nd from 5-8pm. Stephanie Chefas Projects is located in Portland, Oregon at 305 SE 3rd Avenue on the second floor of the Urban Row building. The exhibition will be on view through March 21, 2020 and is free and open to the public.
