Stephanie Chefas Projects welcomes mixed media artist Ben Willis with his latest body of work, 'Doses.' Utilizing elements of architecture, geometry, and pattern, Willis continues to explore the relationship between various colors and materials. The resulting work is mesmerizing, otherworldly, and impossible to resist. More than multi-layered, Willis' square-shaped pieces exhibit alien-like qualities as they emanate with vivid three-dimensional identity. 

For 'Doses,' Willis created three categories of nine individual square compositions, which vary in size and display grid-like patterns. Tactile and visceral, each piece consumes the space around it like a vortex. Hovering just beyond the transfixing veneer are themes of subjectivity and euphoria. Ultimately, Willis' signature squares are designed to function as metaphors for satisfying treats, poised to stimulate or even overwhelm the senses when taken as a whole. As impressive they might appear in photos, they must be seen in person to be fully experienced and appreciated. 

Ben Willis’ Doses will be on view at Stephanie Chefas Projects from March 28 - April 25, 2020. Stephanie Chefas Projects is located in Portland, Oregon at 305 SE 3rd Avenue on the second floor of the Urban Row building.
