ADRIAN LANDON BROOKS

OH ME, OH MY

GALLERY ANNEX   |   DECEMBER 1 - 23, 2017

Opening Reception: Friday, December 1st  7-10pm

This December in the Gallery Annex, artist Adrian Landon Brooks returns to Stephanie Chefas Projects with 'Oh Me, Oh My', a stunning new series of work on reclaimed pecan wood. Exploring themes of humor, nudity, and quiet reflection, 'Oh Me, Oh My' is a visual celebration of the human iconography amidst an other-worldly landscape. Whether the subjects are seen basking in light or preparing for evening rituals, each scene delivers a fragmented tale absent of inhibition and modern day technology alike.

Adrian Landon Brooks studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute and currently lives and works in Blanco, Texas. Brooks works predominately in the mediums of painting and illustration, using found materials such as wood, metal, and old photographs as his canvas. He served an internship at the McClain Gallery in Houston and has exhibited in Houston, Austin, Denver, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland, and Amsterdam. In addition to his gallery work, Brooks has been included in museum exhibitions at The Contemporary Austin and Fort Wayne Museum of Art (FWMOA). Brooks has also been featured in Juxtapoz, VNA, and selected into the West #126 issue of New American Paintings.

The reception for 'Oh Me, Oh My' will be held at Stephanie Chefas Projects on Friday, December 1st from 7-10pm. Stephanie Chefas Projects is located in Portland, Oregon at 305 SE 3rd Avenue on the second floor of the Urban Row building. The exhibition will be on view through December 23rd, 2017 and is free and open to the public.
